Gabrielle Eckhardt is an interior designer specializing in the creation of environments that are pleasant, inviting, gracious and comfortable. Whether it is a private home that suits one family’s lifestyle, or a home builder’s model home that must, through necessity appeal to a larger constituency, Gabrielle’s work is as impeccable as it is imaginative.
Gabrielle was influenced early in life by her parents’ own interior design and drapery business, where she learned the basic principles of colour, shape, form and fabrics. She graduated with an honors degree in Liberal Arts from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario in 1970 and then moved to Toronto to pursue a career in graphic arts. In 1988 she changed her focus towards interior design, finding the field more challenging as well as more rewarding.
Gabrielle works hard at interpreting the uniqueness of each space, as well as its inhabitants. To her, the key to successful design lies in carefully listening to what her clients say and an ability to transform those words and ideas into a pleasing and functional environment. She begins each assignment with a completely open mind and encourages her clients to actively participate in the design process.
She is also a firm believer in the importance of small details and as such, personally oversees the implementation of all her designs.
